Sex education is the provision of information about sex that aims to reduce the potential risk of sexual behavior. This effort is still taboo in the community, so parents feel hesitant to provide teaching about sex to children. The purpose of this study is to determine the perception of parents to sex education provided to children from an early age. This research was conducted in Jambesari village, Poncokusumo, Malang by using phenomenology approach and involving 5 mothers. The results show that parents perceive sex education as taboo, vulgar and inappropriate to convey to children, thus affecting the involvement and form of education provided by parents to children. Adolescence is a transitional period between childhood into adulthood, or period of a years, during which time they must meet some development tasks. Adolescent development tasks must be accomplished by a teenager. Fostering social relationships closer to same-sex and opposite sex friends is one of the nine developmental tasks that must be met by teenagers. The development task in achieving common understanding of the crisis affecting the values and morals that occurred in the community, such as the occurrence of free sex among teenagers. The occurrence of free sex for example form a misunderstanding of the meaning of fostering social connections among these teens, can be caused by a lack of sex education, information obtained by the teenagers, both from the family environment as well as from the environment outside the family society and education in schools.
Parents are seen as role model and important figures in family whom responsible to teach and facilitate a suitable education model for their children. Children need many information and knowledge that would help them to solve all problems the face in their life. Pre adolescence children, especially young teenage girl in this case would need an appropriate sex education to help help them pass through their problems and social interaction life. This information was best given to them by mothers since children would felt safer with same sex beside this also could give other diversion about sexuality values adopted in society.
